NV-FLEX flexible Nightshield filters for portable devices |
NV-Flex(TM) is a new filter material developed for PDAs. It provides night vision device (NVD) compatibility for small screen displays used in forward deployed field applications. Illumination light sources in PDAs, palmtops, wireless handhelds, and other portable display devices emit a significant amount of infrared radiation (IR). Simple application of a Nightshield filter layer virtually eliminates this signature.
The mechanical toughness and flexibility of Nightshield plastic material makes it possible to apply its optical properties to virtually any portable illuminated device that is used in demanding environments, including military, law-enforcement, and firefighting missions.
The two photos below, taken with a Gen III+ night-vision scope, show the dramatic effect of stray IR radiation flooding the operator.
